Okuda & Vale

StudioRefshalevej 163A, 1432 København K

A studio of 34, on the harbour.

We work from a former ship-fitting hall on Refshaleøen. There's a model workshop on the ground floor, the drawing rooms are upstairs, and lunch is at one long table at 12:00 every day.

How we work

  1. 01

    Fewer, better rooms

We measure a plan by how many rooms you could furnish two ways, not by how many square metres it has.

  2. 02

    Keep what stands

Our first proposal on any site with a building on it is to keep the building.

  3. 03

    Publish the numbers

Embodied carbon, cost per square metre and daylight for every project go on this site, good or bad.

  4. 04

    Draw by hand first

The first plan of every project is drawn with a pencil, at 1:200, by a partner.
